Ruslan Abdullaev is steadily putting the super lightweight division on notice!
In his latest outing, the Uzbek standout successfully defended his WBA Continental Gold super lightweight title in just his fourth professional fight, stopping rugged Uruguayan contender Eduardo “El Verdugo” Abreu via fifth-round TKO.
At just 23 years old, Abdullaev has quickly emerged as one of the division’s most promising young talents, blending explosive power with refined skill. He first captured the WBA Continental Gold title in only his second pro bout, dominating the Philippines’ Jino Rodriguez. After scoring a fourth-round knockdown, he controlled the action across eight rounds to earn a clear unanimous decision victory.
Abdullaev made an immediate impact upon his professional debut in March 2025 at Fantasy Springs Casino, delivering an electric second-round knockout. Shortly after, he signed with Golden Boy Promotions, marking the start of a fast-rising career.
Born in Uzbekistan and of Kazakh descent, Abdullaev arrives in the pro ranks with an elite amateur pedigree, compiling a 286–8 record with more than 80 knockouts. His resume includes nine national championships, a 2020 Youth Asian Championship, back-to-back Men’s Asian Championships (2022–2023), and the 2023 IBA World Championship. He also represented Uzbekistan at the 2024 Olympic Games, where a controversial quarterfinal defeat sparked widespread debate across the boxing community.
Now fully transitioned to the professional ranks, Abdullaev is poised to bring his speed, power and precision to the deep super lightweight division. Backed by Golden Boy Promotions and a proven championship foundation, he continues his rapid rise as one of boxing’s most compelling young contenders.
