At just 17 years old, Dylan Capetillo already experienced one of boxing’s hardest lessons: setbacks are part of the journey.

In only his third professional fight, Capetillo squared off against his third undefeated opponent, Juan Becerril, on August 1 in Las Vegas. This time, the result didn’t go his way. Still, the young prospect showed heart, dropping Becerril in the second round and refusing to back down. As the two exchanged heavy shots in the third, Becerril landed the decisive blow, handing Capetillo the first loss of his professional career by knockout. Rather than letting defeat define him, Capetillo walked away with his head held high and a valuable lesson that will only fuel his growth.

Before that, Capetillo wasted little time making an impression in the professional ranks. Just three weeks after his debut, he returned on one of boxing’s biggest stages, earning a unanimous decision victory on the David Benavidez vs. Gilberto Ramirez undercard at T-Mobile Arena. The rising prospect had turned professional in April 2026 shortly after signing with Golden Boy Promotions, announcing his arrival with a first-round TKO victory at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.

Capetillo’s boxing journey began at just eight years old under the guidance of his father, Jorge, at the family-owned Capetillo Boxing Gym. There, he developed into a top young amateur, capturing three WBC amateur championships while building the technical skills, discipline and work ethic that continue to shape his career.

Though his unbeaten record is gone, Capetillo’s potential remains undeniable. Armed with valuable experience well beyond his years and a willingness to test himself against top competition, “La Amenaza” continues to lay the foundation for what many believe will be a bright future in the sport.
