Representing San Mateo Atenco, MX, William Zepeda, known by his ring name ‘Camarón,’ is on a grizzly path to become one of the most feared fighters in the world. With a fan-friendly, nonstop action style that keeps fight fans on their feet, the Mexican southpaw is a knockout machine powered by an endless supply of gas.

Zepeda’s breakout upset performance was against former world champion and 2012 olympian, Joseph “JoJo” Diaz, in October 2022. In that fight, ‘Camarón’ broke three CompuBox records in the lightweight division for total punches thrown, jabs attempted in a round and total attempted jabs. Adding to his resume, Zepeda stamped the likes of former world champion Rene Alvarado, former world title challenger Mercito Gesta and former world champion Maxi Hughes.

In November 2024, Zepeda fought former world champion, Tevin “2x” Farmer, as part of Golden Boy Promotions and Riyadh Season’s ‘Latino Night’ in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Zepeda faced adversity after hitting the canvas for the first time in his professional career, but was able to quickly adjust and secure a split decision victory to become the WBC interim lightweight world champion. Four months later, Zepeda reunited with Farmer to settle their score in the beautiful paradise of Cancun, MX. After twelve electrifying rounds, 22 total, Zepeda successfully retains his WBC Interim Title in front of a home crowd.

Building on his momentum, Zepeda returned to the ring on July 12 in New York City to face the undefeated Shakur Stevenson for the WBC Lightweight World Championship. The contrast between Zepeda’s relentless pressure clashing against Stevenson’s slick defensive skills gave fight fans an exciting night of boxing in the big apple. In the third round, Zepeda’s pressure forced Stevenson to buckle, making him think and adjust for the rest of the fight. After 12 rounds of high-level action, the scorecards didn’t go Zepeda’s way — but his stock rose, and he proved he belongs among the elite in the lightweight division. A tough night, but a major step forward, and now it’s back to the drawing board to see what ‘El Camarón’ does next.
