LAS VEGAS (November 2, 2024): In a special Golden Boy Promotions event, Floyd “Kid Austin” Schofield (18-0, 12 KOs) of Austin, Texas successfully defended his WBA International Lightweight Title against Rene “El Bravo” Tellez Girón (20-4, 13 KOs) of Querétaro, Mexico. Presented in association with Davies Entertainment, the 12-round event went the distance, Schofield suffering a knockdown in round 11. The firefight was scored 118-109, 116-111, and 118-109 unanimously in favor for Schofield. The event took place at The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas on Saturday, November 2, and will be exclusively broadcast worldwide on DAZN.

“I feel good. It was my first time going 12 rounds, especially with a fighter that wasn’t going to back down,” said Floyd Schofield. “It was a shot to the back of the head. I kind of turned my head, so he took the shot. I just had to get up, I’m not going to quit. (Talking about the knock down) I give myself a B+ only because I went 12 rounds with a fighter that had a lot of power. He’s a good, rough, tugged fighter that wouldn’t back down.”

In the co-main event, Shoimbek, Uzbekistan’s Bektemir “Bek” Melikuziev (15-1, 10 KOs) defeated Reading, Pennsylvania, David “Dynamite” Stevens (14-2, 10 KOs). The tough clash went all 12-rounds, the nonstop action making it a close match with Melikuziev getting cut by an accidental headbutt in round 5. The judges saw the bout 112-116, 118-110, and 117-111 giving Bektemir the split decision victory.

“Tough fight,” said Bektemir Melikuziev. “Awkward clash of styles. I did my best on a short notice.”

In a history making fight presented in co-promotion with Sampson Boxing, and the new WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF and Ring Magazine Flyweight Undisputed World Champion Gabriela “Sweet Poison” Fundora (15-0, 6 KOs) of the Coachella Valley, California defeated the former unified Champion Gabriela “LA Chuky” Alaniz (15-1, 6 KOs) via technical knockout to become the youngest undisputed champion male or female. Scheduled as a 10-round war, the back-and-forth action saw Fundora drop Alaniz twice in the seventh-round, leading Alaniz’ corner to wave the white towel at 1:40 in the round.

“This is a dream come true that I have made become a reality,” said Gabriela Fundora. “My team and I have been training to make history and we did that tonight. I didn’t really feel Alaniz’ power, but I knew she came to do what I did which is look for a knockout. I had been practicing that punch since the beginning of training camp – I felt like Bruce Lee preparing for this fight. We’ll see what’s next for me – I can go up in weight or go down – we will see.”

In a historic, Undisputed Female Flyweight World Championship co-promoted with Sampson Boxing, the Coachella Valley’s undefeated IBF Flyweight World Champion will challenge Buenos Aires, Argentina’s WBA, WBC, WBO Flyweight World for all the marbles – including the Ring Magazine Flyweight World Title Belt in a 10-round war.

Successfully defending the WBA Intercontinental Super Middleweight Title and still undefeated blue-chip prospect Darius “DFG” Fulghum (13-0, 11 KOs) of Katy, Texas defeated Selma, Texas’ Christopher Pearson (17-5-1, 12 KOs). Scheduled as a 10-round match, Pearson went down in round one, and the fight was waived off at 1:02 in the third when he could no longer withstand the tremendous arsenal power that DFG blasted on him.

Opening the DAZN Broadcast, Bakersfield, California’s top prospect and former Team USA member Joel Iriarte (5-0, 5 KOs) added another knockout victory to his clean resume against Albuquerque, New Mexico’s Xavier Madrid (5-6, 2 KOs). Scheduled for six-rounds of welterweight action, Iriarte quickly went to business landing a barrage of punches sending Madrid to the mat in the first round. Unable to find his balance, the referee waived the fight off giving Iriarte the technical knockout victory at 2:50 in the first round.

On the Golden Boy Boxing: Schofield vs. Giron Prelims streamed live on Golden Boy’s YouTube channel, Fort Lauderdale, Florida’s Eric Tudor (12-1, 7 KOs) took home the WBA Continental Latin America Welterweight Title when he went the distance against rugged veteran Harold Calderon (28-2, 19 KOs) of Miami, Florida. The 10-round welterweight fight was scored unanimously in favor for Tudor with scores of 98-92, 99-91, and 98-92. Representing Waianae, Hawaii, and still undefeated Asa “Ace” Stevens (7-0, 2 KOs) went the distance against former world champion challenger of General Santos City, Philippines, Garen “Hellboy” Diagan (10-5, 5 KOs). Set as a six-round featherweight fight, the fight went the distance, Stevens winning the judges’ favor with scores of 60-54, 59-54, and 60-54.

Waianae’s Dalis Kaleiopu (6-0, 4 KOs) added another victory to his resume with a victory over previously undefeated fighter Manuel Lerma (4-1) of Pharr, Texas. Scheduled as a six-round lightweight fight, Kaleiopu sent his opponent to the mat at the beginning of the second round and through the ropes in the second half of that round. He was able to close out the victory with all three judges scoring the fight 60-53. Opening fight night and the YouTube stream, Team USA standout and recently signed GBP fighter Jordan Fuentes (2-0) of Fresno, California defeated the tough Roberto Peña (4-5, 3 KOs) of McAllen, Texas in a four-round bantamweight fight. The fight went the distance, Fuentes showing off his fire power to the judges who scored the bout unanimously in his favor with scores of 40-36, 40-35 and 40-36.
